Cobalt pigment painting on ceramics and on porcelain has started from Persia and was perfected in China especially during the Yuan dynasty (13c AD). Later the ceramics decorated with cobalt pigment became popular all over the world under the term chinoiserie!

Famous white ceramics with blue decoration in The Netherlands, UK, Italy and every corner of the world are a statement of craftsmanship and taste, a real treasure for interior designers.

Maggy Ioannou will take you to a journey through cobalt pigment painting on stoneware clay with porcelain slip. A 2-day, 4+4 hour workshop by the talented sculptor, ceramicist, and illustrator.

Day 1

• Presentation of the artist and about the history of cobalt pigment painting.
• You make a simple item with stoneware clay
• Making the porcelain slip.

Day 2

• Applying the slip on the item
• You try the brushes and the paint on aquarelle paper to get used to the flow.
• Painting a premade test tile
• Painting the item you made
• Q&A
